Giving back to the community is important to us. We support a variety of local charity initiatives through participation in fundraising events and campaigns.
In addition to corporate activities we're always happy to support and sponsor individual initiatives. From providing care and support to hospitalised children with Radio Lollipop to walking 200 miles coast-to-coast in northern England raising funds for brain injury association Headway, we applaud the efforts of our staff to draw attention to causes they feel are of importance to the local communities in which they live and in which we operate.
Poverty and disaster relief
Many of the farmers and producers we work with live in developing or underdeveloped regions of the world which are often affected by natural disasters. Our proximity to the devastation wrought by the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami in Japan and the 2008 Sichuan earthquake in China has driven home the importance of supporting communities in need. We made donations to relief efforts for both and will continue to offer aid in times of natural disasters when needed. Other activities have included participation in Oxfam Trailwalker, a sporting event in Hong Kong that raises funds for poverty alleviation and emergency relief projects in Africa and Asia.
Cancer and health research
Over the years we have supported individuals taking part in a variety of cancer related fundraising events. These include raising breast cancer funding and awareness through the London Moonwalk, supporting cancer research in the Race for Life and other events run by Cancer Research UK, and supporting the fundraising events of Macmillan Cancer Support.
