Characteristics

This oil, a by-product of the wine making industry, is used in small volumes due to its unique and highly potent odour.  The yield from the distillation of the lie de vin is very low, hence the oil price is high.  The white colour is due to the distillation in stainless steel equipment, whereas the green coloured oil results from the use of copper stills.
